In a nail-biting and very competitive game against Hopkins today, the hard work and determination of the Girls’ Varsity team was in full view for the excited home crowd. In spite of “the lid being on the basket” for much of the first half, players gave their all, playing hard and adjusting smartly as coaches shifted offensive and defensive strategies. Scoring was evenly distributed: Claire (6), Anna (4), Oakley (4), Caitlin (2), Theodora (2), and defensive stops and rebounds by Vivian, Quinn, Mia, Maribel, Lily and Charlotte were key. Players should be proud of their perseverance and patience to secure this hard-fought win and look forward to next week’s home game (2/22 at 3:45) versus Foote.
The Girls Varsity (2-1) notched their first road victory of the season with a 28-14 win at Foote on Wednesday. The team adjusted to the opponents tight zone defense by executing quick passes and reversing the ball to find open players. The owls tenacious defense led to offensive opportunities with Claire leading the team in steals and assists as others filled the lanes for successful fast break scoring opportunities. Scoring was evenly spread between multiple players - Anna (8), Oakley (8), Claire (6), Quinn (4), Caitlin (2). We look forward to building on our lessons and successes of this game as we prepare for next Wednesday’s (2/14) home matchup against Hopkins.
