  • Director of Development

    The Country School is seeking a Director of Development to begin Summer 2024 to support an independent, co-educational day school. Salaries and benefits are competitive.
     
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    The Director of Development will:
    • Devise and manage a program designed to attract the maximum gift support possible to the school.
      • Develop an Annual Giving Strategic Action Plan.
      • Develop a complete program of research into and an action plan of solicitation of the school's key prospects.
    • Grow existing endowment through stewardship and cultivation, including a planned giving program.
    • With the administration, identify each year the 8th Grade Legacy Gift and coordinate the project with identified school and parent leader(s).
    • Pursue (capital and/or endowment) grant opportunities for school growth. 
    • Oversee and assist with sustaining and fulfilling the 70th Anniversary Talent Within Comprehensive Campaign.
    • Show a commitment to the issues of diversity, inclusion, and equity. 
    • Develop and implement a strategic plan to increase alumni and parental support of, and volunteer involvement in, the school.
      • Develop and implement Exit Gift strategy aimed at engaging families to express appreciation for their time at The Country School and encourage contributions of their experience.
      • Introduce new incoming families to The Country School, outlining diverse avenues for involvement, such as joining the PTA, making financial contributions, and participating in volunteer opportunities. 
    • Collaborate on the processing of all gift income to provide receipts and maintain giving records of donors to the school, acknowledgements and reporting.
    • Serve as the lead administrator for the Institutional Advancement Committee of the Board of Trustees, the Parents’ Association, the Alumni Association, and all connected events.
      • Responsible for event planning and leading all development events by working collaboratively with fundraising event chairs, offering management and oversight. Independently planning 3-6 development events per year.
    • Attend Board meetings as requested to report on current initiatives.
    • Oversee donor recognition and stewardship programs to ensure meaningful and lasting relationships.
    • Collaborate with other departments to align fundraising efforts with the school's programs and initiatives.
    • Represent the school at various events and functions, both on and off-campus.
     
    Common Qualification Requirements
    1. Exceptional written and oral communication skills
    2. Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively
    3. Experience with Blackbaud and/or other development software preferred but not required
    4. Self-motivated and goal-oriented, with a high level of initiative and creativity
    5. Enthusiastic and outgoing, with a passion for building relationships and engaging the community
    6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders

  • Early Childhood Assistant Teacher

  • Extended-Day "Owl's Nest" Program Teacher

    The Country School is hiring a teacher for our extended day “Owl’s Nest” and school vacation programs. The aide will
    • report to the Owl's Nest Director, 2:30 - 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday
    • work with children ages 3 - 14
    • collaborate with the other aftercare workers
    • be a creative self-starter

  • After-School Instrumental Music Teachers

    The Country School, Madison, CT, is hiring after-school instrumental music teachers for individual lessons as part of our Young Musicians Program.  Primary instruments are piano and violin, but other instruments are welcomed as well depending on community interest.

    The teachers will have scheduled lessons on days and at time available between 3:15 - 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday as needed.

    The successful candidate will enjoy working with children ages 3 - 14, be a self-starter, have good references, and have the ability to communicate well via email. Compensation is a competitive rate per lesson.

  • Substitute Teachers

    The Country School seeks Guest Teachers for PreSchool - 8th Grade classes. The Country School is an independent day school with small class sizes and a supportive community. Responsibilities beyond the classroom may include lunch and recess duty and/or study hall. Make a difference in children’s lives while earning competitive pay. EOE
