  • Co-Director/Lead Teacher for Extended Day “Owl’s Nest,” Enrichment, and School Vacation Programs

    With The Country School’s growing population, we are looking for a well-organized self-starter to assume a multi-faced year-round position. We seek candidates who are mature, confident, and responsible and who hold a minimum of a high school degree. 

    The successful candidate will 
    • enjoy working with children ages 3 - 11
    • create special program itineraries for professional development days, holidays, and school vacations
      • This could include interviewing and hiring others who offer enrichment programs (art, chess, etc)
    • Manage a staff of after-school and summer workers
    • Organize, maintain, and update materials and resources
    • Communicate regularly with families about children and additional enrichment opportunities
    • Build, organize and market the Summer Fun and Learning Camp
      • Recruit teachers to host weekly camps
      • Work collaboratively to promote Summer Fun and Learning beyond The Country School community

    Hours vary:
    • 2 or 3 - 6:00 p.m. throughout the academic year 
    • Occasionally
      • 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. throughout the academic year when students are not in school due to professional development, parent teacher conferences, or school vacations. (approximately 20 days per year)
    Summer Hours are available:
    • 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. during Summer Fun and Learning
    • Maintain daily communication with campers’ families and counselors
  • PreSchool–Kindergarten Science Teacher

    The Country School seeks a science teacher for the 2026–27 school year, part-time or full-time. We are looking for an educator who can spark curiosity in our youngest students and help them see science as a way of exploring the world.
    Qualifications
    • Experience working with children ages 3, 4, and 5 in an early childhood or elementary setting
    • Bachelor's degree in Education, Science, Early Childhood Education, or a related field
    • Experience with inquiry-based, project-based, or hands-on science instruction (preferred)
    • Experience designing, teaching, and coordinating cross-disciplinary STEAM units, or a willingness to learn
    • Comfort using technology in the classroom
    • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
    • A commitment to equity and diversity, with a focus on meeting the needs of all learners
    • A commitment to professional growth and reflection
    Responsibilities
    • Design developmentally appropriate lessons that encourage exploration, observation, problem-solving, and inquiry
    • Collaborate with PreSchool, PreKindergarten, and Kindergarten teachers to weave science into classroom learning
    • Deliver high-quality, hands-on science lessons that build curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning
    • Use a range of instructional strategies and resources to meet diverse learning needs
    • Foster an inclusive classroom where every student feels valued and able to take part
    • Support the organizational, academic, and emotional needs of students
    • Communicate with teachers, administrators, and families about student learning and program initiatives
    • Showcase student learning through school events, STEAM shares, and celebrations of learning
    • Keep learning spaces and materials organized to invite discovery and investigation

  • After-School Instrumental Music Teachers

    The Country School, Madison, CT, is hiring after-school instrumental music teachers for individual lessons as part of our Young Musicians Program.  Primary instruments are piano and violin, but other instruments are welcomed as well depending on community interest.

    The teachers will have scheduled lessons on days and at time available between 3:15 - 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday as needed.

    The successful candidate will enjoy working with children ages 3 - 14, be a self-starter, have good references, and have the ability to communicate well via email. Compensation is a competitive rate per lesson.

  • Substitute Teachers

    The Country School seeks Guest Teachers for PreSchool - 8th Grade classes. The Country School is an independent day school with small class sizes and a supportive community. Responsibilities beyond the classroom may include lunch and recess duty and/or study hall. Make a difference in children’s lives while earning competitive pay. EOE
