Coed A Soccer wins against Pine Point Coed!

Coach Merrill
The TCS bus made its way out to Pine Point with 7 motivated boys and the strong and courageous Theodora. This small team of 8 was ready to take on whatever came their way. We knew we were down players and would play without subs, but the attitude on the bus was all business with co-captain (and part-time assistant coach) Keve going over scenarios with the team.

The spirit of the Owls was boosted as we departed the bus and saw Nolan running towards us across Pine Point's pitch. We now had 9! We were still without subs, but kicked off on time with our 9 vs. Pine Point's 11.

Connor quickly scored the opening goal followed by Liam (first goal of the season!), Keve, Will L., and the unstoppable punctual midfielder Nolan (also a first goal of the season!). The goals were numerous, and the defense was strong. Rafa’s finesse with the ball in his anchor fullback position was impressive from the sideline. Keve’s movement and strategy mixed with Theodora's intimidating foot and determination was fun to witness!  Matt's defense was also strong and his instincts grown out of his hockey background translated well in the left wing position.

After Connor filled holes all over the pitch in the first half of the game, Duffy volunteered to be “sweeper-keeper” and gave Will Pappas playtime outside the box. Connor continued to dominate in goal (a position he has not held for several years). Our second half was less about scoring and all about rondos, keeping the ball moving and finding space. After Will Laurans made a beautiful cross-turned-accidental-goal, he took a water break and went back in as our new keeper.  Liam showed great instincts on the pitch until a calf injury.  He was missed, but the Owls still held their own with only 8, and only one goal was given up to Pine Point.

We were excited to see the sportsmanship and respect our players showed Pine Point during an unbalanced competition. Our 9-1 win was the result of tremendous teamwork led by captains Connor, Keve, and Rafa. Theodora even got a shout out from the official as the "player of the match" for her hustle and unyielding aggressive style of play. We could not agree more! Bravo!

We can’t wait to see this talented group of players next week!
