Baseball team loses to Hopkins 5-3

Coach Burdge
The baseball team lost to Hopkins 5-3. Our first game of the season was very entertaining, as we played a close contest against Hopkins. Henry started on the mound and threw 3 solid innings. His control helped him breeze through the first 2 innings, before giving up 3 earned runs in the third. Jack came in in relief and pitched 2 innings, giving up only 2 hits and no earned runs, and Braden closed out the game in the sixth. At the plate, we got off to a hot start, scoring 2 runs in the first inning. The early rally was led by hits from Andrew and Henry, who were driven in on sacrifice flies by Cade and Braden. While the offense couldn’t get much going in the middle innings, everyone had good at bats and made solid contact. After this strong first game, we will continue to work on the fundamentals in practice to get ready for our next game against Foote on May 16.
