Girls and Boys Cross Country Earn 1st in Shelton

Fielding as strong a team is they’ve ever had, Country School boys and girls traveled to Shelton yesterday and beat three large public schools, with the girls remaining undefeated over three years.

The boys beat Amity, Shelton and Polson through strong team efforts led by Captain Luke Schupp, who won the race, followed closely by Captain Will Laurans, third overall, Henrik Sharp, fifth overall, with Tash F. fourth for the team, Liam Morris fifth for the team and Sam C., sixth for the team end 32nd overall out of 68 competitors.

Tillie Killam won the girls race, leading almost to a clean sweep of Polson, Shelton and Amity. Second, third and fourth overall in the 1.66 mile race held at Shelton High School were Liv Killam, Maribel Smith, and Anna Gunderson, with Captain Maybe H., seventh overall, rounding out the top five scoring. Lucy Clark was the insurance policy, taking 27th out of the 67 runners to displace competitors from the other teams.

After some more days of practice, the teams race Tuesday against Williams school, Thursday at the IDS Invitational, and then Saturday at the Wickham Invitational.
