Girls' Soccer 4-1 Win Against Foote!

Tuesday’s home game against Foote was a true test of grit and teamwork. With rain pouring most of the day and strong winds, every pass and shot was a challenge and needed to be low to the ground. The team spent warmups practicing low, controlled shots and corner kicks—and it showed once the game began.
We’ve been focusing on anticipating where the ball will go and being the first to it, running through the ball, and keeping our hands down to avoid handballs. Those lessons came to life as the girls played with focus and heart.
We have been playing all season with a 4-4-2 formation, which seems to play to the girls’ strengths. Our fullbacks were a combination of Emma, Charlie, Maria, Francesca, and Caitlyn—As usual, they were vital in this game, especially in the second half. Emma had her best game yet, playing fearlessly and with great grit, while Caitlyn has fully embraced her defensive role and continues to shine in that position!
In midfield, Norah had a breakthrough moment after a quick sideline chat with Coach Gunther about the role of a midfielder. She immediately put it into action, and she played the most and best she has played all season. Emmy, as always, covered the entire field tirelessly, and stepped in anywhere she was needed.
Despite limited subs and early dismissals, everyone fought through fatigue and the weather. Emily was vital in goal during the first half, defending tough shots, and Charlie took over in the second half with confidence and great blocks.
Goal scorers: Caitlyn, Oakley (her first-ever goal in soccer! Congrats Oakley!), Quinn, and Veronica.
Shout-outs: 5th graders Charlie and Aggie played nearly the entire game and loved every minute of it, and Lucy impressed as a striker and on defense with her trademark “hockey strength.”
This was a tough, well-earned win that showed how much this team is growing in confidence, communication, and resilience.
Final Score: Country School 4 – Foote 1- Next up, Hopkins!
