XC Week 2

Coach McDonough
Dear Cross-Country Families,

As noted earlier, we have an optional workout today (Sunday) at 5:00 PM at the Hand High School track. The workout will prepare runners for next Saturday's optional meet in Wilton, CT.

Looking ahead, our schedule this week is typical:

• Tuesday and Thursday: Practice 3:15-4:15
• Wednesday: Practice 2:30-4 PM

For planning purposes, our first race is this Saturday, September 19, in Wilton, Connecticut, at Allen's Meadow Park--the Wilton Middle School XC Invitational.

It is an optional race because it is so early in the season. But it is short (1.5 miles) and not intimidating, so please email back if you would like to discuss with one of the coaches whether your child could benefit from the experience.
• Families are welcomed to drive themselves. The bus driven by Mr. Fixx will depart from campus early in the morning.
• Return time is approximate: if we leave Wilton around 10:00 AM, we should be back at Goose Lane by about 11:00 AM and campus by 11:15. We will text an ETA to cell phones and this email group as we depart Allen's Meadow.

Race details:
• Boys’ middle school race: 8:30 AM (1.5 miles)
• Girls’ middle school race: 8:45 AM (1.5 miles)
• Stronger runners may also compete in the freshman race (4K) following the middle school events.

Additional notes:

• Uniforms will be distributed this week.
• Please pack warm clothes, snacks, and a lunch for the return bus ride.
• Again, families are warmly welcomed to attend—either driving directly or dropping off at school/Goose Lane and then meeting us at the race.

Thank you, as always, for your support. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
