JV Ultimate Frisbee: Undefeated Owls Upend Aces, Move to 4-0

Mr. McDonough
With a Varsity-JV doubleheader on Salger Field, the ultimate teams from Aces At Chase made the trip up to face the Owls in Madison. From the outset, the JV Owls sought to ensure there were no questions as to how much they had improved from their first matchup of the season in Waterbury. Whether into the wind or with its lift behind them, the Owls picked apart their opponents, taking a quick 5-0 lead with the first two scores coming as Veronica S honed in on scoring catches from Kieran F and Jonah M in the endzone. While Aces would score three straight late in the first half, Country still went into the break with an 8-3 advantage. As it turned out, it was a lead they would not relinquish, ending the game with a commanding score of 11-5. There were a number of chippy moments where contested plays and physical contact transpired, but both Coach McDonough and Coach Whiteman remained proud of the poise and overall sportsmanship displayed by the squad. The team moves to 4-0 and faces an experienced St. John Paul school from Middletown on 5/18.
