Boys' Varsity Soccer Win! "An Exciting Match From Start To Finish."

Coach Wainio
On a beautiful sunny day, the Owls varsity soccer team traveled to New Haven to face the Foote School.  The teams were evenly matched and play was spirited.  The boys tallied the first goal on a tremendous corner kick from Sam ‘22 that curled into the goal.  Then Foote grabbed the momentum and scored the next three goals, putting the Owls back 3-1.  Gabe ‘22 moved up from his defensive position to score the second goal of the game, reducing the lead to just one goal.  After halftime, Sam ‘22 took another marvelous corner kick which struck a Foote player and bounced into the goal.  The game was tied.  With some incredible defensive play from Luca ‘23, Oli ‘23, Jack ‘22 and Gabe ‘22, the Owls were able to hold Foote at bay.  Andrew ‘23 took over as the goalkeeper and did a fantastic job handling everything that came into his box.  Blake ‘22 scored the next two goals on passes from Harrison ‘22.  With the score now 5-3, Foote was able to scratch back one more goal on an own goal.  When the horn from the scoreboard sounded, the score was 5-4, and the Owls were victorious.  It was an exciting match from start to finish!  Thank you to Mr. Birdsall for his coaching wisdom on the sidelines and to Mr. Fixx for driving the van to the game.  Also, many thanks to all the parents who came and gave us great support and water!
