Country School Starts its 66th Year on a High Note

On September 8 The Country School began its 66th year,  boasting its highest enrollment in the past decade, 223 students from 20 different towns. “Covid helped distinguish us as a school of choice. We have 18 outdoor classrooms and 100 percent of our teachers and employees are vaccinated. Our ability to be creative and responsive during a challenging time highlights the value of an independent school education, ” said Pam Glasser, Director of Admission.

In addition to its new families, Country School hired a host of teachers with a combined 137 years of teaching experience: Ms. Deb Line, 5th Grade; Mrs. Jennifer Reilly, science; Mr. Paul Birdsall, math; Mr. Stephen Behr, Director of Athletics; Mr. Peter Burdge, humanities;  Mr. Keith Smith, music and Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Mr. Chester Sharp, Kindergarten; Mrs. Stacey Koenig, 1st Grade; Mr. Will McDonough, history and Director of Community Engagement; and Mr. Joseph LaMacchia, Director of Innovation and Technology. “The power to attract talented teachers at The Country School always amazes me. It is because of the strength, level of professionalism, and high expectations of our present faculty that we are able to continuously hire such excellent partners,” said Head of School John Fixx.
