Cultural Arts

The Country School seeks to expose students to ideas, cultures, and art forms from all over the world. Through our vibrant Cultural Arts program, professional artists and performers visit campus several times throughout the school year.
Cultural Arts visitors have included salsa dancers, members of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and Connecticut Ballet, puppeteers, a steel drum band, a mask maker, an interactive display of Colonial Day activities, alumni performers, a hip hop dance troupe, authors and poets, and several a cappella groups, including the world-renowned a cappella group, Blue Jupiter.

The goal of the program is two-fold: to help students learn about the world through artists and their work, and to expose students to art forms that they may wish to explore themselves. Country School graduates work as movie and stage actors, directors, and producers, as opera singers, musicians, composers, and dancers. They are writers, painters, sculptors, and fashion designers; many report gaining an interest in their chosen field while a student at The Country School.

TEDx | The Country School

On March 3, 2018, The Country School presented TEDxTheCountrySchool, featuring an array of thought-provoking talks around the subject of Synergy. Attendees also engaged in a series of hands-on activities designed to allow participants to engage in synergy. The event marked the second time The Country School has held an official TEDx conference, presented in the spirit of TED, the nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Huge thanks to TEDxTheCountrySchool organizers, Laura Morrison and Ben Ballard '08, to our TEDx volunteer team, and to our extraordinary speakers (featured below).
