Milo gets "Chilly” to secure season opening win for the Owls!

Country Ultimate opened the game with a fast paced, almost frenetic pace which put the Highlanders on their heels early and it produced an 8-2 half time lead. But after some nice adjustments by Pine Point, the lead closed to 8-4 minutes into the second half. That’s when the team was asked to get “chilly,” especially our handlers. Chilly meaning in Ultimate to keep a cool head, take your time and make good decisions. Runners were also asked to run their routes correctly, not all ending up in the end zone (crowding), and that is what they did, winning the battle 7-1 from that point on and a final score of 15-5.

It was a unique day also, as we had less than half our team members, only 10 and each person either scored or assisted or both.

Milo led the way with 8 assists, while Anna had 4 scores most of them of a spectacular fashion. Jake and Andrew found the end zone 3 times each and Alexander, Jack, Natalie, Chris and Liam also added a point to their tally. Chris and Liam also assisted twice each. Other garnering assists included Miklosh (2) and Jack (1).

Not only did the athletes and I walk away happy, but fellow coach, Mr Merrill was ecstatic about the effort, positivity, commitment, sportsmanship, and overall good time that students have playing this wonderful game. It was in fact, Coach Merrill’s first ever Ultimate game!
