Girls basketball at TCS is back!

Girls basketball at TCS is back! The team took to the court Thursday, traveling to Pine Point for their first game of the 2021-22 season.

While the victory went to Pine Point, the final score of 22-18, tells only part of the story. After shaking off some first game nerves and falling behind 12-6 by half time, the Owls played more confidently and rallied in the second half, outscoring their opponents 12-10, behind Emily D’s rebounding and impressive offensive efforts. Emily’s game-high 16 points and leadership as floor captain was invaluable along with Rosie L adding points to the scoreboard for the Owls as well. Notable and important defensive contributions came from our promising crew of 5th graders Anna G, Mia S, Mia N, and Norah H; 6th grader Lara Ozcan; 7th graders Elizabeth R and Chloe N; as well as veteran 8th grader Emma L.

On the ride back to school after the game, the girls had some terrific insights and ideas about what to work on next week in practice and then to implement in our next game against Hamden Hall next Thursday. Coach Coyne and I are excited to be working with such an enthusiastic and dedicated team!
