"The Varsity Boys’ Soccer Team traveled all the way to Waterbury to take on a new opponent, ACES at Chase"

Coach Wainio
The Varsity Boys’ Soccer Team traveled all the way to Waterbury to take on a new opponent, ACES at Chase.  ACES was kind enough to play us in an 8v8 game, as the Owls were short on players for this game.  We thank them for being so accommodating.  The game was a back and forth affair for the first half, which ended in a scoreless tie.  Andrew ‘23 did a fabulous job as goalkeeper in the first half, stopping several solid shots.  The defense, led by Oli ‘23, was stout and tough.  The Owls finally broke through in the second half.  Milo ‘22 lofted a shot into the upper left corner of the goal on an assist from Spencer ‘23.  Not long after, Oli ‘23 rocketed a blast from outside of the 18-yard box that ricocheted off the ACES’ goalkeeper and into the back of the net.  Blake ‘22 rounded out the scoring adding the third goal of the game.  The ACES team fought hard and were able to scratch back a goal, making the score 3-1.  Oli ‘23 continued to control field position with some timely tackles and great long balls up the field to the offense.  The referee signaled the end of the game, and the Owls were able to exit the field victorious.  Our eight boys, including Jack ‘22, Milo ‘22, Blake ‘22, Braden ‘23, Cade ‘23, Andrew ‘23, Oli ‘23 and Spencer ‘23, were exhausted after playing the full game without subs.  Congratulations to the team on their well earned win!
