Big News!! Travis Gulick '02 and his wife, Felicia Smith, are starring in Former Glory, an HGTV pilot airing on February 14 at 1 p.m.

Until recently a Country School trustee, Travis is co-owner of Gulick & Co. and has been a moving force behind many of the recent construction projects on campus. Felicia, who works in property management, has a background in historic preservation and interior design. We can't imagine a better team to headline a new home renovation show. (BTW, you might recognize a few other faces, not to mention the locale.)

Congratulations, Travis and Felicia, both on this new venture AND on becoming parents! We'll be watching on Valentine's Day!

Influenza Info from Nurse Fucci

It is the time of year when we may see an absenteeism on the rise due to certain illnesses such as influenza, strep throat, and gastrointestinal viruses.  Please read the following as it pertains to school exclusion for your children. We ask for your cooperation to help us to curb the spread of bacteria and viruses.

Friendly reminder: students 6-59 months are required by the state to have an influenza vaccine each year between August 1-December 31.  Doctor verification of administration of vaccine OR a religious or medical exemption form signed by a parent/guardian and notarized must be on file no later than December 31 to avoid exclusion from school.

If your child has been diagnosed with the flu, or any communicable illness, please notify the Health Office.  Kindly review policies regarding school exclusion in the TCS Handbook or on the TCS website. Influenza trends and information can also be found on the CDC website of the State of CT Department of Health website.

PLEASE NOTE:  Students MUST BE fever free (<100) without the use of Tylenol or Motrin for 24 hours before they may return to school.  Students must be tolerating food/fluids and be free of any GI symptoms, such as vomiting or diarrhea, for 12 hours prior to returning to school.  Students who have a bacterial infection, such as strep throat, should have received antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to school. Please call or email the School Nurse if your child has been absent from school due to an illness for more than four days or has required hospitalization for any reason.

Please continue to encourage your children to do the following:

  • Wash hands frequently!
    • Before meals
    • After bathroom use
    • After playing outdoors
    • After using hands when sneezing/coughing
    • Use hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available
  • Keep hands away from eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Carry a water bottle daily – stay hydrated.
  • Eat a balanced diet.
  • Get plenty of rest each night.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Dress properly for seasonal weather changes: layers, gloves, hat, boots.

Please contact Laura Fucci with any further questions or concerns.
