Our annual Bingo for Books was a great success with over 100 attendees!

The Country School encourages TCS families to shop at Robert's (with reusable bags, of course). Robert's will give 10% of all Country School families' purchases back to The Country School!


Please give your receipts to your child's teacher or Louise Jackson. If you misplace your receipt, still let us know. Give us your name and Robert's will use your name/account number to access your purchases.


Purchases must be from 2/8 to 2/14 to qualify for the 10% return.

Run for Refugees with The Country School - This Sunday

To build on our incredibly successful coat drive for IRIS and the interest driven by our participation in the Global Read Aloud this fall (Refugee by Alan Gratz) and many of our workshops on IDEA Day, we encourage all Country School students and their families, staff, and alumni to consider participating in the IRIS Run for Refugees in New Haven on February 3.


Register then reach out to Liz Lightfoot to let us know whom to expect. We'd love to have a big TCS showing! Be sure to wear your TCS spirit. 

Owl's Nest - Conference Day - Friday, February 15


The Country School will run an Owl's Nest program from 8:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m. for families who need childcare on conference day, Friday, February 15. We ask that you register your child by February 9, so we can staff accordingly. We must have a minimum of five to run the Owl's Nest Program. If you have any questions please email or

Madison Hoop Dreams Basketball Camps (3rd-8th Grade)

February 18

9 a.m. to 3 p.m.


Great opportunity for players to improve their skills, work on their court awareness, and encourage their enjoyment of competition. This is a good "team building" day for teammates on travel and rec teams.

The cost is $50 for one camper, $90 for 2 campers, $40/camper for 3 or more campers. Register.  

Get Out and Vote!

Donations are our lifeblood and Essex Savings Bank is giving thousands of dollars to help aid our efforts.  

Essex Savings Bank will be collecting votes throughout the month of February.  At the end of this period, the votes are tallied and translate into a percentage of the total amount of allocated funds.  In 2019, the total amount to be distributed is $39,600. Support The Country School by voting!

Rules to vote:

  • If you are a customer of Essex Savings Bank, you are eligible to vote for up to three of your favorite non-profit organizations beginning February 1 through February 28, 2019.
  • A customer will be defined as any person having a loan, deposit account or safe deposit box with the Bank.
  • Each customer, regardless of the number of accounts held, will be allowed to complete only one ballot.  
  • Paper ballots are available at any of the Bank's six branches or an electronic ballot may be submitted by logging into your Essex Savings Bank online account.



Girls Coach Girls Run 

Girls Coach Girls Run (GCGR) will take place at The Country School again this spring! Check out our video and more information. 


Girls in Grade 4
Calling all fourth grade girls! Info sessions for GCGR are at 5 - 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, January 24 and Tuesday, Feb 5. Join us to learn more about this multi-tiered peer-mentoring and healthy living program. Please RSVP to Beth Skudder at or 203.458.6699 x103. Online registration will open soon. All 4th Grade girls attend all twelve sessions and the 5K Fun Run on June 5.

GCGR will be offered at The Country School on Tuesdays & Thursdays, 3:45 – 5:30 p.m. on April 25, 30, May 2, 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, 30, June 4.


Girls in Grade 8
GCGR Assistant Coaches are 8th Graders and attend training ahead of the mentoring program with the 4th Grade girls. All assistant coaches attend all six training sessions and all 12 program sessions. Online registration is open now and is first come, first served:
