More than 50 Alums Return for Alumni Day

Thank you to the 50+ alumni who joined us on a beautiful, late November afternoon for Alumni Day 2017. Returning friends included some of our most recent graduates as well as alumni from several years back, including members of the classes of 1977, 2000, 2002, 2008, and 2010. In addition to spending time reconnecting, alumni were able to experience some of the new spaces on campus, including the Burt Family Green, the renovated Dining Room, and the new athletic fields.

The spaces - and the faces - got a big thumbs up!

We were also thrilled to be visited by families who have moved away, including the 3rd Grader (below right), who was delighted to be reunited with her friends and former classmates.

It was a treat to welcome former faculty members back to campus, too. Below, former PE teacher and coach Brian Perzanoski catches up with one of his former athletes, Zaynah Abid '02, now a medical student at Northwestern.

Head of School John Fixx caught up with Julia Cornell '00, who back when Mr. Fixx was at The Country school in the 1990s, was one of his 6th Grade English students. They reminisced about Mr. Fixx's course on utopia and a project Julia made to represent her idea of utopia. Mr. Fixx said he has never forgotten her creation and wasn't surprised to hear that she is an artist and art educator. It was also fun to hear that Julia is incorporating lessons she learned from her former TCS art teacher, David Acheson, into her work with her students.

Students, both current and former, had fun catching up with Science teacher Meghan Flynn. Currently out on maternity leave, Ms. Flynn arrived with the adorable baby Nora in tow.

Members of the Class of 2017 arrived for Alumni Day early, joining some of their teachers for lunch in the newly renovated Dining Room. Later, their Reading Buddies joined them for a surprise visit. Huge thanks to our most recent graduates and their families for underwriting the dining room renovations. As they were able to see, the former cafeteria is now a bright a cheery place to dine and congregate.

Other alumni arrived in time for the annual Alumni Day Soccer Game. Kudos to the alumni/faculty team for earning the win over 8th Graders. Admittedly, the Class of 2018 had some tough competition with all of the alumni talent on the field. This year's alumni team included three members of the State Championship Daniel Hand High School boys' soccer team. Here they are with their proud former Athletic Director/coach, Chris Wallack.
