Dan Gillis '16 Excels on Slopes, in Classroom

Congratulations to Dan Gillis '16 on being selected to participate in the U16 National Performance Series to be held at Copper Mountain in Colorado in December. Not only that, but Dan was awarded a scholarship from Burke Mountain Academy, his high school, which will cover most of his training camp costs for the year in such venues as Chile, British Columbia, and California and was based upon several criteria, including race results, grades, effort, and character. He was also awarded a sponsorship from Dynastar based upon results and coach recommendations.

After the competition at Copper Mountain, which will feature the top ranked U16 skiers in the country, selections will be made for the Seven Nations Cup to be held in Europe in February. Dan, who's currently training with BMA in Corralco, Chile, follows a long history of athletes from Burke who have qualified for this event, but he is most likely the first Country School alum to do so.

Best of luck, Dan, and congratulations on your many successes both inside and outside the classroom.
