Director of Development Nicole Cretella Burke

Known to some in our local community as a Madison native, Nicole Cretella Burke joined the Educational Leadership Team in July 2017. Earning a national reputation for nonprofit management and fundraising, Nicole is the founder and visionary of OutRUN 38, a foundation she started in honor a childhood friend to provide funding for research and find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Receiving local and national accolades for this work, Nicole's development philosophy stems from building deep, meaningful relationships and communicating passion and purpose for philanthropic endeavors. Exquisitely organized and an exemplary motivator, Nicole collaborates with our Board of Trustees and its Institutional Advancement Committee to manage the Annual Fund, The Shaping the Future Capital Campaign, the Annual Gala, the Golf and Tennis Classics and all other friend-raisers and fund-raisers that emanate from the Farmhouse.

In addition to overseeing Development, Nicole participates in all aspects of Communications, Marketing, and Alumni Relations, roles she is familiar with not just from her work with OutRUN, but from her previous work in Marketing and Admissions at New England Culinary Institute (Montpelier, VT). Most recently, Nicole served as a Literacy Specialist and Teacher Leader in East Lyme, CT after several years as a middle school Language Arts Teacher in Middletown, CT and Hyde Park, VT and will embed herself deeply in our student and parent community as she teaches English in our Middle School. Nicole has a Bachelor's degree in English from Stonehill College (North Easton, MA), a Master's degree in Reading/Language Arts from Southern Connecticut State University (New Haven, CT) and has done further graduate work in Educational Leadership in the Administrator Preparation Program at the University of Connecticut (Storrs, CT).

Nicole has a personal passion for fitness, having captained marathon running and various distance triathlon teams for charity and coached club level gymnastics. Nicole lives in Westbrook with her spouse Matthew Talmadge and their children Cooper, Lucy '23, Maddox, and Felix '25.
