February 2005
Dear TCS Families,
Back in November when we launched our 2004-2005 Annual Giving Campaign, we asked you to please commit to The Country School community by generously supporting TCS's Annual Fund.
I am happy to report that community spirit is alive and well at TCS. A little more than two months into our campaign, over half of our $245,000 goal has been reached. With continued support from the community, my Annual Fund Co-chair, Chuck Gadon, and I are confident that we can reach our goal and even surpass it. What a wonderful statement about this community and its willingness to pull together to get things done!
Certainly the beginning of 2005 brings our community much to celebrate. After a lengthy and thorough search process, our new Head of School has been selected. We are delighted that William E. Powers, who has ably guided us since being named Interim Head of School in August 2004 will remain at the helm on a permanent basis. He has a firm understanding of our community and a terrific sense of where, working together, we can take it.
The end of this year will also mark the 50th Anniversary of the founding of The Country School. As the parent of four happy and productive TCS students (and as a TCS alumna myself) I am grateful every day that half a century ago, a group of parents had the foresight to create this very special community.
If you have not already done so, please join us by committing to the community now with your gift. Stop by the Farmhouse and pick up our new brochure about Annual Giving and why it's so critical to independent schools everywhere, or check out our new online giving option on the TCS website at www.thecountryschool.org.
Many, many thanks in advance for your support. Here's to unity and community!
Best,
Liz Lightfoot
