This Week's News
The Experience of a Lifetime: 8th Grade Returns from Southwest
No doubt we will hear more stories from our 8th Graders, who returned to campus this morning after their week in the mountains, deserts, and canyons in and around Moab, Utah. But for now, here’s a preliminary slideshow (click here
) and also an excerpt from a report to 8th Grade parents from Head of School John Fixx, who joined students for the first half of the trip. Read more
Elsewhere On and Off Campus...
While 4th-7th Grades have been having their own overnight Outdoor Education adventures, ranging from an on-campus tent-in for 4th Grade (click here) to challenges on climbing walls and a voyage by canoe for 7th Graders (stay tuned; they return later today), younger students are also experiencing outdoor adventures. Click here for an account of the PreK’s field trip to Grass Island with their 4th Grade Reading Buddies and here for a story about 3rd Graders observing nature on campus and then writing about it.
Why Outdoor Education?
In case you didn't catch it, here is a story from NPR about the importance of learning in and from the outdoors (click here). Sound familiar? For more about why we are so committed to Outdoor Education at The Country School, visit www.thecountryschool.org/outdooreducation.
End of Year Events
The end of the school year is a busy time. In addition to grade-specific events and activities, there are many all-school programs. For your convenience, below is a link to a list and description of events that affect the entire school community and/or several grades at a time. For grade-specific activities, please consult teacher pages or watch for messages from your child’s teacher/advisor.

Great Day of Golf and Tennis for a Great Cause!
Thank you to all our participants and sponsors for a fun day of camaraderie and sportsmanship for a great cause - scholarship at TCS! Click here for more photos.
We also thank Guilford Racquet for hosting us last minute when the tennis portion of our day got rained out and our amazing volunteers. A particular shout out to the Johnson family, event co-chairs Stephanie and Phil Johnson and event photographers Hannah ’08 and Sarah ’10 Johnson.
New Additions to Summer Fun and Learning
Please keep checking www.thecountryschool.org/summerprogram for additions to our offerings. Note that we have added another week of Beginning Robotics and have more detail about our Exploration/TED-style camp with alumnae Marina '07 and Milan '11 Sachs. In addition, the Reading and Writing Camp scheduled for June 22-26 has been moved to an afternoon session so students may participate in both the Exploration/TED-style camp and the writing camp. We may be adding a Fencing Camp soon. If your child is interested, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
A Message from Nurse Fucci:
Parent(s)/Guardian(s)--If your child has medications in the Health Office, please remember they must be picked up by an adult by the last day of school. All medications left behind after the last day of school will be discarded. Please note, all medications must be collected by an adult.
