January 8, 2015
Welcome to this week's Little Hoot, and we apologize for its late arrival. The initial version had a delivery problem and so we are resending.
Happy 2015! Welcome back from break. And welcome, too, to our new 4th Grader, Willa!
This Week's News
Help Us Spread the Word!
As you may have seen in local news sources and/or advertisements, The Country School's Board of Trustees is providing a $10,000 scholarship to a new student applying to Grades 4-8 for the fall of 2015, and so we are asking all current families to please help spread the word.
The Board is making this generous gesture in celebration of The Country School's 60th Anniversary, which we will celebrate during the next school year. If you know of anyone who might be a good candidate, please let him or her know about an information and assessment session taking place at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 25 in conjunction with our Winter Open House.

Student in the Spotlight
While many students were enjoying their last few days of vacation, 8th Grader Hannah S. was busy rehearsing and performing with the Greater New Haven Youth Ensembles Concert Band. The performance was held on Sunday in Battell Chapel on the campus of Yale University. The band is composed of high school mentors and middle school student who were selected by audition last August. Hannah, who also plays flute in the TCS Band, represented The Country School in the performance. Congratulations, Hannah!
A Reminder from Nurse Fucci
With the cold weather upon us, Nurse Fucci reminds the community about the wind chill chart and frostbite information located at www.thecountryschool.org/healthoffice
. As always, you may find pertinent health-related information there (accessible also from the Current Parents
page). Please remember to have your child pack appropriate clothing and outerwear for the weather.
No School Friday January 16 and Monday January 19 - Owl's Nest will be open

Please note that we will be offering Owl's Nest for all as well as basketball enrichment for students in Grades 3-8 on both days. Stay tuned for registration information.
