A STEAM Curriculum: What does it look like?
Experts say as many as 65 percent of today's grade school children will work in jobs that have yet to be invented, and so educators are calling for a curriculum that helps develop innovative, flexible, creative people. But what does that curriculum look like? Families of TCS 2nd Graders may have had a preview the other day.

Wise Guys Participate in State Tournament
Congratulations to the Wise Guys Robotics Team for making their first ever-appearance in a state robotics tournament! The TCS team was just one of 48 teams across Connecticut to make it to states, competing last weekend at Central Connecticut State University.

Owliday Craft Workshop - Kicking off the Holiday Season
The DeFrancis Gymnasium was bustling with excitement and creative energy last Friday as the community came together for the first-ever Owliday Craft Workshop.

A Week of Levity
If you've noticed a few interesting outfits and unusual hairstyles on TCS students (and some faculty) of late, there is, in fact, a reason. TCS kicked off the Week of Levity yesterday with Crazier by the Dozens Day.

Director of Admission Claire Kinkade Dunn reminds parents who are interested in financial aid for the 2013-2014 academic year to visit www.sss.nais.org and fill out all required information before January 11, 2013.  Please email Claire at claire.kinkade@thecountryschool.org with questions.


Open House - January 13 1-3:30 p.m.

News Briefs

Tonight is the Annual Winter Concert for Grades 4-8
Students are expected to arrive at 6:30 p.m.; with a 7 p.m. start time for the concert. This is a dress up occasion and we look forward to a beautiful evening.

 


Join Us Next Wednesday for the TCS Holiday Program
This school-wide celebration starts at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19 and is expected to run approximately two hours. Family and friends are encouraged to attend as students of all ages share performances. This is a half-day of school, with dismissal following the concert.


Intramural Basketball for Students in Grades 3, 4, 5
Learn and play basketball with TCS coach Chris Wallack. The intramural program starts after winter break. Click here for details and to register.

Holiday Piano Recital
Five current students and one alumnus will participate in a Holiday Piano Recital on Sunday, Dec. 23 at 3 p.m. at the Guilford Community Center. Performers include Ashwin D'Cunha (TCS  '12 ), Viraj D., Jane G., Connor L., Maddie O. and Paul S. All are welcome to attend and enjoy festive holiday music in different styles and arrangements, as solos and duets are performed.  Any questions, please contact Emily Phillips at emilyph347@gmail.com or call 203-453-9410.
