| || | Earning Interest: 3rd Graders Participate in School Banking Program
Ask a Country School 3rd Grader what's going on in the classroom, and you're bound to hear an array of enthusiastic answers about literature, history, math, or science. Visit on the first Thursday of the month, though, and you might hear talk about interest rates and bank statements.

Student of the Week: A New Middle School Initiative
Three 7th Graders have announced a new initiative designed to highlight the talents and accomplishment of Country School students. Each week they will spotlight a Middle School student (randomly selected through a computer program designed by one of the 7th Graders) in an effort to "learn more about the student body and what incredible and accomplished people" they are.

Eighth and 3rd Grade Reading Buddies served dinner at The Community Dining Room on Tuesday, marking the 9th year TCS families have volunteered each month at the local soup kitchen. This time, they also brought some produce grown in The Country School Garden.Read more
| || | 2012-2013 Annual Giving Campaign - Join us!
Last year was an extraordinarily successful year for giving at TCS, with 97% of current parents joining us to participate in the Annual Giving Campaign. With the national average of current parent participation standing at 69%, that's a major accomplishment for a school of our size.Read more
| || | Rain or Shine: It's the TCS Fall Festival Tomorrow
After school tomorrow, from 3 -6 p.m., the community comes together for the annual Fall Festival. Sponsored by the Parent Association, this fun-filled event will feature an ice cream social, scarecrow making, mini golf, spin art, face painting, fun and games, prizes, and more. In the event of rain, activities will move into the gym. Suggested donation: $5 per child. The Taco Truck will be on hand for additional food purchases and will donate a portion of proceeds to TCS. Fall Family Focus Groups - Your opinion counts!
During our summer strategic plan discovery process, many of you asked for more opportunities to share your thoughts, ideas, concerns, and suggestions. So this November we are hosting focus groups so you can do just that. Nancy Benben, our marketing consultant, will be facilitating two sessions: families with children in Grades 4-8 are invited to attend Monday, November 5 and families with children in PreSchool-Grade 3 are invited to attend November 7. (If you have children in both groups, choose either one.) Both sessions are from 8:30 am - 10:00 am in the Farmhouse. if you are interested in participating, PLEASE RSVP TO CINDY RICHAR (email@example.com) Questions? Tomorrow is a School Spirit Day!
Students are welcome to show their spirit by wearing TCS spiritwear and blue jeans.
Halloween is Just Around the Corner
Here are some dates to mark on your calendar:
Halloween Fun Night and Dance - October 26
5th and 6th Graders are invited to attend the Fun Night from 6-7:30 p.m.
7th and 8th Graders are invited to attend the Dance from 8-10 p.m.
DJ, Games, and Haunted Hallway!
Costume Contest, so come dressed to impress.
$15 entry fee
Mystical Moonlight - October 29
A 4th and 5th Grade intermediate collaborative project. Students worked in mixed book club groups, reading a book, analyzing the story, and visualizing the setting. Last week they visited the Florence Griswold Museum to see the Faerie Villages for architectural inspiration. They are now creating faerie-type scenes that represent their books, and on October 29 from 6-7:30 p.m. they will invite parents to a Magical Moonlight Walk to view their work.
Halloween Parade - October 31
The traditional TCS Halloween Parade will take place in the Courtyard starting at 8:30 a.m. for students in PreSchool-Grade 4. Stay tuned for more details. Click here for a slideshow of past Halloween parades.
Box Tops for Education
Please bring all box tops in to school by next week. The class that collects the most box tops will be treated to a pizza or ice cream party! Keep collecting those box tops - we'll do another collection in the spring. Thanks to all who have participated!
